#yourmobilityvision interview: Alexander Thieme, Co-Founder & CEO, aboDeinauto

#yourmobilityvision is all about showing what the mobility of the future looks like by introducing companies, people behind them, researchers and institutions operating in our truly wonderful sector. 

 

In this interview we are talking to Alexander Thieme, Co-Founder & CEO at aboDeinauto.

 

What is your company’s vision and how do you embrace it in your everyday doing?

Our vision at aboDeinauto is to become the new standard in car mobility. We make car subscriptions easy and flexible for everyone by working hand in hand with our partners.

 

What is the core business of your company? 

At aboDeinauto we work with used car dealers to offer used car subscriptions to mainly B2C-customers. Booked vehicles are available quickly and flexibly for durations of 3-12 months. Users can choose the mileage from five different packages from 500 km to 2500 km per month. The monthly subscription price includes taxes, insurance, registration and maintenance of the vehicle.

 

What is special about your company? What are the aspects you are particularly proud of? 

We tap into the huge pool of unused cars waiting in used car dealers’ yards. This helps everyone. Our dealers can turn their car fleet quicker than before, leading to better economics on their side. Our end customers benefit in two ways: first, maximum flexibility as our cars are available and not somewhere in an OEM’s production line. And second, we can provide great rates to customers as used cars are cheaper. 

 

What is the link between your company and Ben about? 

We have the same roots. Just as Ben, aboDeinauto was founded by Bridgemaker, the leading independent venture builder in Germany, together with their respective corporate partners EnBW and Baloise. Moreover we are both part of the Baloise Group’s mobility ecosystem as Baloise Group also invested in Ben in November last year. Therefore we are closely connected and are in constant exchange.

 

What is the impact you would like to have on the mobility of the future?

We want to play a significant role in how car ownership will change in the future. The subscription market is developing from a niche to a mass market and transforms the whole car industry. To make this more concrete: the number of cars brought into subscription is expected to grow tenfold within the next 5 years in Germany alone. With aboDeinauto we are aiming for a fair share!
